We understand that you're facing a difficult situation with a family member causing distress and division. Let's bring this matter to the Lord in prayer and seek His wisdom and guidance.
Firstly, Romans 12 reminds us that we are to bless and not curse. It is important not to have evil thoughts of our family member, even if they are behaving badly when we should be praying for their welfare rather than be upset and angry.
Romans 12:9-21
9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. 10 In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another; 11 not lagging in diligence; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 contributing to the needs of the saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. 19 Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 Therefore
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him.
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.”
21 Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
As we are struggling with a family member, be aware that family members are the only ones we are given specific instructions to avoid and rebuke. This is only if they are causing us to sin such as participating in immortal sexual relations or something similar. Is unclear whether or not that is the case. It is important for a sane, healthy, and wise individual to be saved. Make sure to try to find an appropriate time to share the message of Jesus Christ with our family member. Through Jesus, we can be saved from all our sins. Since the only way to God is through Jesus, we must put our faith in Jesus Christ. That may be the reality to bring our family member relief.
John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. 18 He who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.”
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this troubling situation. We pray for the family member who is causing distress, you know the family member in question. Only you know what is truly wrong with your loved creation. We pray that You will soften their heart. Father, help them to see the error of their ways and guide them back to You. Give them an awareness that they need to be saved. We acknowledge that we all need to change as rebellion to you is the first sin and everything else after. You will not tolerate things not being done your way and in your will. We pray that your loved creation, begins to honor your wishes. If your loved creation has not professed a faith in Jesus Christ, is expressing other faiths or religions, all of that is not of you Jesus said, I am the way. The only way to you is through Jesus Christ and faith in you. Lead your loved creation, the family member to your Gospel of Jesus Christ where the wages of sin are death, and you have provided the only escape through the gift of your one and only Son, Jesus Christ. The free gift of salvation is available to us all. Our family member must realize only you are the way as Jesus stated, honor and follow your commandments. We pray that you will strengthen the bond of the family together. To repair any misconceptions and antics we should be aware of. To honor, and respect you that should be the highest priority. Give us all the wisdom to handle this situation with grace, love, and patience. Help us to be lights of Your love and truth in this difficult time. We pray the family member can be saved and have eternal life. Your loved creation and child does not perish. Thank you Jesus for paying the penalty for your loved creation. We pray they receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Now and forever, In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
