We are glad to join you in prayer for your travels and your sister's recovery. Let's bring your requests before the Lord together.
Firstly, we thank you for acknowledging that prayer should be in Jesus' name. As it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God this is correct. However, allow us to share a refinement to this. Jesus Himself taught:
John 14:13-14 WEB "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."
Notice Jesus said 'that the Father may be glorified **in** the Son'. Rather than end your prayer with an 'Amen' treat 'In Jesus' name' as something sacred and placed at the end of the prayer right before the 'Amen'. Let us rather glorify the Father in the Son by correcting this to "In Jesus' name, Amen.'
May allow us to also refine the prayer request. Traveling mercies should be expressed as 'May God grant me traveling mercies.' Remember, God is sovereign and grants traveling mercies not us. He is the source of traveling mercies.
In Philippians 4:6-7 WEB, the Apostle Paul encourages us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today we glorify your name as you are the source of all traveling mercies. We humble ask that You grant Stitcher traveling mercies for the day-long drive beginning today. Guide and protect the journey, and let all go well as it is pleasing to You. We also lift up his sister to You. Please be with her as she recovers from her broken wrists. Provide her with the physical therapy she needs, and let Your healing power work in her life. May you grant the doctors wisdom and compassion in her treatment. We are surrounded by a sinful world Lord and it is only by the name of your Son Jesus that we have the confidence that you hear our prayers. We ends our prayer in Your Son's Holy name.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Regarding your sister's recovery, remember that God is the ultimate healer. In Psalm 103:2-3 WEB, it is written, "Bless Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases." Trust in His power to bring restoration and healing to your sister. We will continue to pray for you both and ask God to glorify his name through your lives and allow these trials to strengthen your faith.
