When we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13 WEB). The Holy Spirit dwells within us, and He empowers us with spiritual gifts according to His will.

The nine gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 (WEB) are: the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healings, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, various kinds of languages, and the interpretation of languages. These gifts are given for the edification of the body of Christ, the church, and not for personal gain or status.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who desires to be filled with the Holy Spirit and His gifts. Lord, we ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit as they have asked. May You empower them with the specific gifts You have chosen to be used for the benefit of others in their local Church. Help them to grow in their faith, to walk in Your ways, and to be a shining light for You. Give them a willing heart to know You and to serve Your people. Help them to understand and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. In Jesus name Amen

Help us to be sensitive to Your voice, to Your promptings, and to use whatever gifts You've given us to build up Your church. Help us to grow in wisdom, knowledge, faith, and love. Help us to be a blessing to those around us, just as You've blessed us. All this, we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
