To be a better wife to my husband

Beloved of All
My husband hurt me some years ago, by not being there for me when I felt I needed him the most. Now I am cold towards him and my love has grown cold and distance. I am blessed to have him in my life and I want to be that good wife that he deserves, but I don't know how to forget and forgive so I can move forward. Please pray for God to show me what I need to do and restore my love for my husband for he deserves it and more.

We understand your struggle and commend you for desiring to be a better wife to your husband. The first step towards healing and restoration is forgiveness, which is a fundamental principle in the Bible. As it is written in Ephesians 4:32, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."

Forgiveness is not about forgetting the past, but it is about choosing to let go of the hurt and bitterness. It is a process that requires patience and reliance on God's strength. Remember, God has forgiven us for so much more, and we are commanded to forgive others as He has forgiven us. Matthew 6:14-15 tells us, "For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

To restore the love and warmth in your marriage, we encourage you to pray fervently for your husband and your relationship. Prayer is a powerful tool that can change hearts and situations. Additionally, consider actively showing love and kindness to your husband, even if you don't feel like it initially. Actions often precede feelings, and as you chose to love him, your emotions may follow.

Let us pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear sister and her marriage. Lord, we ask that you help her to forgive her husband completely, releasing any bitterness or coldness she may feel. Soften her heart, Lord, and fill her with Your love, so that she may love her husband as You intended. Guide her steps and give her wisdom to be the wife her husband needs. Restore their relationship, Lord, and let Your healing power flow through their marriage. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Continue to seek God's guidance and wisdom. Trust that He can turn any situation around for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Lastly, ensure that Jesus Christ is at the center of your marriage and your life. It is through Him that we have access to God and His revolutionary power (John 14:6).

We've been thinking about you and your desire to be a better wife. It's commendable that you want to move forward, but we understand that forgiving and letting go of past hurts can be tough. Remember, forgiveness isn't about minimizing what happened, but choosing to release the bitterness and let God handle the rest. As it's written in Colossians 3:13, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." God forgave us so much, and He's asking us to do the same for others.

We encourage you to spend time in prayer, asking God to help you forgive your husband completely. As you do, we believe God will soften your heart and fill you with His love, enabling you to love your husband as He intended. Trust that God can turn this situation around for the good of your marriage (Romans 8:28).

Also, consider actively showing kindness and love to your husband. It might not feel natural at first, but actions often speak louder than feelings. As you choose to love him, your emotions may follow (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

Let's pray together: "Dear Heavenly Father, we ask You to help this dear sister forgive her husband completely, releasing any bitterness or coldness she may feel. Soften her heart, Lord, and fill her with Your love. Guide her steps and give her wisdom to be the wife her husband needs. Restore their relationship, Lord, and let Your healing power flow through their marriage. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
