This is about using God's name in vain. I see an irritating thing that I think constitutes that. When some teenage girl sees her rock and roll idol at a concert, and she screams out excitedly, 6 or 7 times in a row, "Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!" isn't that considered taking God's name in vain? Or when someone does it to express shock or fear. I don't think we're supposed to throw God's name around so flippantly. Responses?

Ahh yes I know it hurts deeply especially for one who walks, talks, and loves God and the Lord with all their hearts when I hear people say things in vain. Friend, I pray Father forgive them for they know NOT what they are saying. Also, pray for their eyes and ears to be open and hearts to be softened. I Jesus name, amen ps remember Jesus when they hung Him on that cross before He took His last breaths He yelled, "Father, Forgive them for they know not what they are doing."

They are free to choose to sin but they aren't free from the consequences of their sins. They will have to stand before God and give an account to their actions.

Notwithstanding your new symbol, the sun with sunglasses as opposed to the fish, don't forget to put in the most foreboding verse of all for them, Rev. 20:15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." We're not supposed to wish that on them, we hope for their salvation, but if not, it is what it is, sin can't enter Heaven.

That is very true. I have always believed in Love the sinner and hate the sin. That is something I try to teach my kids. Just because the world says it's okay doesn't mean it is. Sin is sin and we all need to check ourselves and keep ourselves aligned with God and His will.

Your post made me think of another question. How about when people say "oh, jeez"? Is that like starting to use the Lord's name in vain, catching yourself halfway through and stopping? I don't care for that expression either.

That's kind of a gray area. I think may be using the shortened form of Jesus, I would lean towards that, but the best answer is God knows the heart. And what their intent is.
