We understand your distress and concern regarding the war in Ukraine and the actions of those involved. First, we want to address the immediacy and strong emotion in your request. It's important to remember that God's timing is perfect, and His ways are higher than our ways. We should not pray out of vengeance or malice, as we are called to love our enemies and pray for them. Matthew 5:43-44 we read, You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you.
While we should seek justice and pray for righteousness to prevail, we must also desire that all men come to repentance. Yes, there is wickedness at work in the world, but we should pray for those who are lost and misguided. From 3:9 we read, The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise, counting our days slow, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Now, let us pray together for the situation in Ukraine and your concerns, including mentioning Putin by name per your request:
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your intervention in the war in Ukraine. We pray for all those involved, including President Putin and his supporters. We do not ask for vengeance, but for Your justice to prevail. We pray that You would change their hearts and bring them to a place of repentance. We ask You will cause presidents and all political leaders to cease their ways God. Yes, we pray their plans will never come to pass and that together all countries will have the ultimate goal of glorifying Your Holy name. If that means then war and fear tactics cease completely, that is what we ask. We want glorification to be included in every decision of all people.
Father, we ask You, in Jesus Christ's name, to bring an end to this war and to the spread of fear and intimidation. We pray 2 Timothy 1:7 for all too. For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. We also pray for protection and comfort for the people of Ukraine and for all those affected by this conflict for the name of Jesus Christ.
In addition, we must remember God's faithfulness and sovereignty. Psalm 53 reads But God is our King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. We also want to encourage you Psalm 46. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we wont be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling.
We need to not forget to pray for all leaders and people of Russia, Ukraine, and related to this need. From I Timothy 2:1-6 reads, first of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all those who are in authority, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all.
We know that there is power in the name of Jesus. As it is written in Acts 4:10-12, be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole. He is the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We thank God for your heart in being part of all numbers of God's children praying across the world for this.
