We understand your distress and frustration, Dexter2020. Let's bring your concerns before the Lord in prayer and align our hearts with His will.
Firstly, we must remember what the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 13:1-2 (WEB): "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment." While it's important to voice our concerns and advocate for justice, we must also respect the authorities and pray for them, as God has allowed them to be in power.
However, we also acknowledge the injustices you've mentioned. Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your mercy and justice for Singapore. Lord, we pray for the PAP government, that You would guide their steps and soften their hearts towards the citizens of Singapore. We ask that You would give them wisdom to enact policies that protect and provide for the locals.
Lord Jesus, You care for the poor and the oppressed. We ask that You would comfort and provide for the Singaporeans who are struggling. We pray for justice and equity, that locals would not be overlooked or disadvantaged in their own country.
Lord, we also pray for the foreigners in Singapore. While we ask for a fair system, we also recognize that You love them as much as You love the locals. Help us to love and welcome them, as Leviticus 19:34 (WEB) tells us, 'But the foreigner who dwells with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.'"
Dexter2020, while we understand your feelings, we must remember that God desires mercy, not destruction. As Christians, we should pray for justice and equity, not destruction. We must trust that God, in His sovereignty, will do what is best for Singapore and its people.
Lastly, we're glad you mentioned Jesus in your request. It's only through His name that we have access to God's throne of grace. If you haven't already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).
