Jesus also said, "The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, while he's asleep or awake, the seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens. The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle, for the harvest time has come."
—Mark 4:26-29 NLT
Key Thought
The Kingdom of God on earth is progressing toward an end. While we don't fully understand all that goes on, we can be sure that the Kingdom is growing, and when it comes to full maturity, the harvest will come. There is movement and there is mystery, but ultimately, there is harvest. We also need to understand this about the Kingdom: The power of the Kingdom moves despite our lack of complete understanding of all that is happening in this work of God. One thing is certain, however; when all things are ready, the harvest will come. A question for us is whether or not we will be a part of this movement and mystery and grow as we should, to be ready for the harvest.
Today's Prayer
LORD God Almighty, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God of Deborah, Esther, and Mary, I want you to be Sovereign Lord in my life. Just as clearly as you have worked in the history of Israel's past, I pray that you will work in your Kingdom now to your glory ... and may I be part of this movement and mystery of your grace. In Jesus' name. Amen.
