We are blessed to join you in praying the model prayer that our Lord Jesus Christ taught us. Let us go through it together and understand its profound meaning.
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:9-10 (WEB)
Here Jesus is teaching us to approach God with reverence and to align our desires with God's will. It goes on to say,
"Give us today our daily bread." Matthew 6:11 (WEB)
This is a request for God to provide for our daily needs. It reminds us to rely on God for our sustenance and to trust in His provision.
"And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors." Matthew 6:12 (WAE)
This verse underscores the importance of forgiveness. We are to forgive others as we seek God's forgiveness for our own sins. If we are unable to forgive others, we ourselves cannot receive forgiveness from God.
"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:13 (WEB)
Finally, we ask God to guide us away from temptation and to protect us from the evil one. This is a recognition of our need for God's strength and protection in our daily lives.
Let us pray this together:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen
We are reminded that it is only by praying in the name of Jesus that we can approach God. In John 14:13-14 (WEB) Jesus said,
13 Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.
We also take this opportunity to encourage you to share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ with others. It is only through faith in Jesus that we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 (WEB),
There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
Let us continue to pray together and seek God's will in all things. If there is anything else you need to add or ask, please do not hesitate to write back and recover with us.
