Praising The Lord Defeats The Enemy! -
"I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be
on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted
hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His
name together." Psalm 34:1-3
Let us all go to church and praise the Lord today. Are you
praising the Lord every day in spite of your marriage problems?
I want you to learn the next hindrance in receiving answers to
your prayers. The next hindrance is lack of praise in your daily
life. How often do you praise the Lord? If the enemy starts to
attack you with circumstances, you may have feel fear, anxiety,
worry or even anger. What should you do? May you learn to start
praying, but especially start praising the Lord or thanking Him
that He is in control of everything in your life and marriage.
"Great is the LORD in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.
Let them praise your great and awesome name--he is holy."
Psalm 99:2-3
Praise expresses admiration, appreciation, and thanks. Praise,
according to the Bible Dictionary, is the means by which we
express our joy to the Lord. We are to praise God both for who
He is and for what He does. Praise is to extol, laud, honor,
acclaim, and express approval. Praising God for who He is, is
called adoration; praising Him for what He does is known as
thanksgiving. Our Lord inhabits the praises of His people. He
said He will make the rocks cry out if we do not praise Him.
(Luke 19:37-40)
Do you feel God's love, His peace, His presence and His power
when you are praising the Lord? By praising the Lord, your
circumstances can suddenly seem smaller and your Lord God will
seem more holy, mightier and more powerful. God is able to
handle any and all of your problems because of His greatness.
"Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no
one can fathom." Psalm 145:3
"Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my
fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my
stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take
refuge, who subdues peoples under me." Psalm 144:1-2
Throughout the Bible we read how many men and women of God were
put to the test or came to a crossroad having to believe in God
or otherwise deny His mighty power. Are you denying His power by
not believing in your Lord to revive, restore and rebuild your
marriage? Learn to praise and worship the Lord every day so that
your spouse can be set free from the prison of darkness that they
are living in.
Are you being tempted, having thoughts or thinking or even saying
that you cannot wait any longer for your marriage to be
restored? We want you to understand that your Lord God wants you
to surrender your life to Him and trust Him. Let go and let God
take care of all your problems and circumstances. What you need
to do daily is to take all your marriage problems and leave them
at the foot of the cross every morning, admitting they are too
much for you to handle, but you are trusting the Lord to work out
all the details to bring glory, honor and praise to the Lord.
God wants you first to have a deep personal intimate relationship
with Him. He wants to be first in your life. He wants you to
worship and praise Him in spite of any or all of your
circumstances all the time. Do you really know, believe and
understand how praises defeats the enemy? Praise does defeat
the enemy. Praise takes your problems or your burdens off of
your mind, so you can then focus on God's power, His mercy, His
majesty, and His love. Praise causes you to remember and
appreciate God's character and greatness. Today, start
developing the practice of giving praise to your Lord God daily.
You will experience greater joy, greater peace and greater
strength as you face your marriage crisis.
Where do you start? You can start by reading the Psalms
(specific praise Psalms are: 8; 21; 33-34; 103; 106; 111-113; 115-
117; 135; 145-150. Read at least one or two Psalms a day during
your devotion time. As you read them, you will see that many of
the Psalms are prayers, and many of the prayers include praises
to God. Praise is given to God, not only for what He does, but
for His creation, for His blessings, for Him changing lives, for
His providing for you and your family, healing your diseases, and
most of all, of God forgiving you of your sins. Remember the
Lord is---loving, faithful, forgiving, patient and a just God.
Before you start your devotions, put on praise music and try
praising the Lord before you start reading and praying to Him
daily.
Let me remind you of a powerful story in Acts 16:22-36 that you
can read for your devotions today. Paul and Silas were stripped,
beaten and placed in jail in the inner cell. Despite their
terrible situation, they started praising the Lord. They started
praying and singing as the other prisoners listened.
No matter what your circumstances are right now, start learning
how to praise the Lord. Imagine what the other prisoners were
thinking. Then suddenly God intervened. Paul and Silas were
delivered by an earthquake. The prison doors flew open, and
everybody's chains came loose. The enemy has your spouse living
in darkness who may see everything negative about you or your
marriage. They usually are critical or complain and may be
blatantly living in sin. Your beloved spouse is blinded and
deceived by the enemy. God is teaching us that if you will
choose to praise the Lord even as a sacrifice and be thankful,
God can move your mountains of circumstances to bring glory,
honor and praise to the Lord.
"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns
to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the
foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison
doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. The jailer
woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his
sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the
prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself!
We are all here!" Acts 16:25-28
"The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling
before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked,
"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in
the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household.
"...The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal
before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to
believe in God--he and his whole family." Acts 16:29-31,34
You may be like Paul and Silas facing huge circumstances. May
you choose to be more like the disciples and sing praises in the
midst of your trials and tribulations. I believe in the Lord's
mighty power and while you are praising the Lord, He is rescuing
and speaking to your spouse words of convictions and instructions.
He will break the chains of bondage and set them free from the
prison of darkness and sin that they are in. Nothing is too hard
for the Lord to do! The Lord wants your whole family saved and
back together!
God teaches each of us to trust Him, praise Him, and then watch
Him work in our lives! Let's start praising the Lord daily and
see what the Lord will accomplish!
"Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. I will praise
the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I
live." Psalm 146:1-2
