The Greater The Calling, The Greater The Testing!

The greater the calling on a person's life the greater the testing. In other words the more that God has planned for you to do the more difficulty that he allows you to go through. Why because God wants you to have a strong enough character to support the weight of your calling.

It doesn't do God any good if he elevates you to a position of influence and then you end up falling and taking other people down with you. And we could see this principle taught all throughout the Bible from Abraham to Joseph to Moses to David.

Today's one minute encouragement will bless you. The greater the call on your life, the greater the testing, the greater the anointing.

A New Testament Example is Jesus -- After being affirmed by 1) God and 2) Man -- It was then Jesus "was immediately led by The Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tested by the devil (MATT 4:1)

1. (Holy Spirit descended in Bodily Form); Luke 3:21 "Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

2. John Acknowledges Jesus has A More Significant Baptism -- Matt 3:13 "At that time Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” 15“Let it be so now,” Jesus replied. “It is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness in this way.” Then John permitted Him.…

Paul also shows, "Higher Levels = Higher Devils" in 1 Cor 9:24, "Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Paul was wary the devil might come after him after a high point, like PREACHING... Let us all ask to be kept from sin and the evil one (Matt 6:13, 1 Cor 9:24-27).

1 Peter 1:7-9
New Living Translation

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.

Elijah ran from Jezebel AFTER God had defeated all the prophets of Baal and Ashteroth (After a High Point). Not even the divine intervention of an angel could recommission him. It was eating some bread, drinking some water, and sleep that strengthened him to get to what He really needed: To be corrected for thinking he was the only one left... God gives him this on Mount Horeb with a near face-to-face exposure of His power through the elements of wind, earthquake, and fire -- but then the still soft voice letting him know God's Choice had reserved for Himself exactly 7,000 who have not fallen away to other gods (1 Kings 19:9 "Then he came there to a cave and spent the night there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, 'What are you doing here, Elijah?' 10 And he said, 'I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.'

11 So He said, 'Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD.' And behold, the LORD was passing by! And a great and powerful wind was tearing out the mountains and breaking the rocks in pieces before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.12 And after the earthquake, a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire, a sound of a gentle whisper (NKJV, 'still, small voice.'

13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, 'What are you doing here, Elijah?' 14 Then he said, 'I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.'

15 The LORD said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; and when you have arrived, you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram.16 You shall also anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi king over Israel; and you shall anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah as prophet in your place.17 And it shall come about that the one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death.18 Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

Perhaps the best response after a spiritual high point or promotion is to remind yourself and those excited about your good news that it's going to call for extra trials and some suffering... It was immediately AFTER Peter's confession that Jesus was The Messiah, which meant the disciples were getting it, at that point Jesus humbles himself by describing what the full extent of His mission would cost Him (for being Messiah). Mark 8:29, “But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” 30 And Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about Him. 31 Then He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that He must be killed and after three days rise again.
