ACTS 12: 1-25 Now About that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
Vs. 2. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. [ forth arrest of Peter ] Vs. 3. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. ( then were the days of unleaven bread. )

Vs. 4. And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. [ Continual prayer by the church for Peter's deliverance. ] vs. 5. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
Vs. 6. And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. [ Peter's Miraculous deliverance from chains and Prison ]
Vs. 7 And behold the Angel of the Lord came upon him, and alight shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

Vs. 8. And the angel said unto him Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. vs. 9. And went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. Vs. 10. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

Vs.11. And When Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from the expectation of the people of the Jews.
[unbelief In answered Prayer ] Vs. 12. And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. Vs. 13. And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. Vs. 14. And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
Vs. 15. And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that is was even so. Then said they, it is his angel. Vs. 16. But Petr continued knocking ; and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were ashamed. Vs. 17. But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

MY COMMENTS: Here we see the example of the Power of Prayer. remember that without Prayer peter would have been killed. It is interesting to see that the Church was praying for Peter's Deliverance. The thing of note is that they Prayed for Peter without ceasing. This means the church did not stop praying. Many times we miss the Miracle and intervention of God in our problem and need because we quit praying. Sometimes we need to pray without ceasing until the answer comes.

The other fact we see here is that the church was in one unity, and one mind. They met to pray for Peter's Release. There is power in united prayer, for God says, where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst. One shall chase a Thousand and two shall put ten thousand to flight.

We also see that as an answer to the prayer of the church, God sent an angel to set Peter free from prison. When the angel came into the jail, he tapped Peter or I might say slapped him to awake him. You see Peter could not have been properly delivered while asleep. God will slap us to awaken us as to the things that will hinder our deliverance. Maybe some habit of drinking of alcohol, or anger, unforgiveness. Once we let these things go we will see our deliverance even at the door. The Angel asked Peter to tighten or strap up his sandles and gird himself ready for the deliverance and he had to do it quickly. Some deliverances to be effected, we need to be spiritually ready, We need to be expecting the deliverance, ready to walk out. God sometimes wants us to have a quick response to what he wants us to do. Give up the bad habits, quick, repent and ask for his forgiveness quickly. Our quick response will determine the speed of our deliverance.

Sometimes when God is working out your deliverance, you might not know as to what is happening until you are free. And at times even those who could have been praying for you might find it hard to believe that you have actually been delivered, or that you have your answer to your prayer. When the need is huge, sometimes baffling, even when we pray, we might faint thinking that this is really impossible. But remember you are praying to the Almighty God, Unto Whom Nothing Shall be Impossible. Continue Praying and Continue believing, for the Answer and deliverance is even at the Door !! God bless you as you PRAY.
