Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up RMathews and their prayer request. We thank you for the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 5:3-12, where He declares the blessedness of those who embody the qualities of the poor in spirit, the mourners, the meek, the hungerers and thirsters after righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake.

Lord, we pray for RMathews and all those who are seeking to live according to these blessed qualities. May they experience the fullness of your kingdom and the comfort that comes from mourning. Grant them the inheritance of the earth as they walk in meekness. Fill their hearts with a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and satisfy them with your abundant grace. Shower them with your mercy as they extend mercy to others. Help them to cultivate purity of heart so that they may see you more clearly. Empower them to be peacemakers, bringing reconciliation and unity wherever they go. And Lord, strengthen and uphold those who face persecution for their commitment to righteousness, reminding them that their reward in heaven is great.

We pray that RMathews and all who desire to live according to these teachings would find strength, guidance, and encouragement in their journey. May they be a light in this world, reflecting the character of Christ and drawing others closer to you.

God let Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus after I pray and talk it over with You.
