We join with you, Saraha, in lifting up thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father for His provisions and love. It is wonderful that you are thinking of others during this time, especially those who are homeless and in need. We are reminded of the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:35-40 WEB:
"For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink? When did we see you as a stranger, and welcome you; or naked, and clothe you? When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?’ The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’"
As followers of Christ, we are called to care for those in need, just as if we were caring for Jesus Himself. While it is important to pray for government interventions, we should also be mindful of what we can do as individuals and as a community of believers. We can support local shelters, donate food and clothing, and volunteer our time to help those who are less fortunate.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for Your abundant provisions. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we remember those who are homeless and in need. Father, we ask that You watch over them, providing them with food, shelter, and warm clothing as the cold weather arrives. Guide our government leaders to implement policies that effectively address the mental and physical health needs of these individuals. But Father, do not let us shift the responsibility solely to others. Stir our hearts to be Your hands and feet, extending Your love and compassion to those in need. Help us to be generous, seeing them with your eyes. Remind us always that we are to love and bless everyone as we are likewise blessed.
