Let us first acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the only way to approach God the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." and in Acts 4:11-12 "This is the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" So no matter what we ask for it should be in the name of Jesus. Also, we should not be praying for things not in accordance with God's will.
Rom. 8:26-27 "In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit’s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God." We must be open to what the Holy Spirit puts on our hearts to pray and according to God's word so that we follow God's will for His people and not what we think is best.
We are grateful for the scriptures you have included in your prayer request, ###, and the heartfelt prayers you have already started. Let us continue to pray according to God's will as instructed by His word with those passages and some additional scriptures included. Let us first join you and pray for our leaders as instructed by God's word in
1 Timothy 2:1-2 "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up all those in authority, especially the President Elect ###, the Vice President, and all Cabinet picks. We pray for a seamless transition of power and for angelic protection over them. We ask that You prepare the new House, Senate, and Governors for office and grant our nation healing and the ability to respect each other, maintaining free speech and open dialogue.
In addition, we pray for the Supreme Court picks, that they may be filled with Your wisdom and discernment. We ask that our leadership may be godly and honor You in all their decisions. We remember Your promise in Psalm 100:4 and believe for healing of our land..." Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, and bless his name."
As for protection of the Secret Service agents we pray Psalm 91:10-11 for all those involved with security. "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways."
Regarding the non-biblical idea of separated church and state, anyone that has gone beyond the basics in a college or law school would know the origins of most laws. Most laws follow some form of ancient laws of a religious nature. In this case, many laws follow the Levitical law of the Holy Bible especially related to the Ten Commandments and even many judicial punishments. Today they are not enforced by the religious leaders, but the righteous morality is supposed to be upheld by the government. Specifically, we are instructed as Christians to pray for our government leaders. Therefore, it is biblical to expect our leaders to act morally and ethically based on the sanctity of life and agape love thy neighbor as yourself.
Father God we also agreed with you that are seeking mature godly Christians in the public eye and not easily offended especially by those that are not acting by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 2:1 "You therefore have no excuse, you who judge, for in that which you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge do the same things." Praying for others should not result in us comparing ourselves to others resulting in frustration and anger or be pride. All Christians should be regularly reading in God's word and praying the word back to God so that we will act in the power of the Holy Spirit to honor and glorify God our Father.
As for a blessing on our time in the word, prayer, and intercession, we remember that our time is an offering to God. A time for church, a time for service, where God comes first. We pray as in Psalm 51:10-12 "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Don’t throw me from your presence, and don’t take your holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit."
God says in Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path." We seek His approval. As in the parable of the talents, we seek to put to work what He has given us so that we are good stewards.
We pray all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, with the promises and prayers in Your word. It is in the name of Jesus Christ that we approach our Father in Heaven.
