Dexter2020, we understand that you're going through a challenging situation involving your former pastor and the issue of tithing. Let's address this together in Jesus' name.
Firstly, it's crucial to understand that God loves a cheerful giver, and our giving should not be out of compulsion or coercion. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 9:7 WEB, "Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver."
The concept of tithing, or giving 10%, is not mandated for New Testament Christians. Instead, we are called to give generously and willingly, as the Lord has prospered us. Pastor Samuel's focus on tithing and his alleged actions are not in line with biblical principles. It is disturbing he prayed you would lose your job to enforce his beliefs about tithing.
Regarding forgiveness, Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:14-15 WEB, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Forgiveness does not mean what Pastor Samuel did was acceptable. It means releasing the burden of unforgiveness and trusting God to deal with the situation justly. We pray that you find the strength to forgive, not because Pastor Samuel deserves it, but because Jesus asks us to.
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord, we come before You, lifting up Dexter2020. We thank You, Jesus, for revealing the truth about giving. Lord, we ask for Your healing and deliverance for Dexter2020 from the hurt caused by Pastor Samuel's actions. Help Dexter2020 to forgive, not out of their own strength, but through Your grace. Change Pastor Samuel's heart, Lord, and help him to teach Your truth accurately.
And finally, regarding the name of Jesus. It is written in John 14:6 WEB, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. The only way we can access God is by the name of Jesus. It is in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
It is concerning that Pastor Samuel used coercion to force you to give. This is not the way of Jesus. Be wary of anyone who asks you to resign from your job or gives you ultimatums about giving money. God wants our hearts, not our money.
Be wise, Dexter2020, and test every spirit to see if they are from God. As it is written in 1 John 4:1 WEB, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Please know we are here for you, Dexter2020. Stand firm in the truth of God's Word, and continue to seek Him in all things.
