Ezra 10:18 :
And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.

Commentary on this verse:
10:15-44 The best reformers can but do their endeavour; when the Redeemer himself shall come to Zion, he shall effectually turn away ungodliness from Jacob. And when sin is repented of and forsaken, God will forgive it; but the blood of Christ, our Sin-offering, is the only atonement which takes away our guilt. No seeming repentance or amendment will benefit those who reject Him, for self-dependence proves them still unhumbled. All the names written in the book of life, are those of penitent sinners, not of self-righteous persons, who think they have no need of repentance.

Our prayer:
Heavenly Father , we pray for this reality in our lives. We pray that You would help us to see You for who You are, to see our sin, for what it is, in such a way that we weep over sin as we confess it, that we hate our sin and we hate sin and our worldly ways, and we weep over it. In all of these, oh LORD God, we praise You that we do not have to pay the price for our sin. We praise You for Your love for us, that You’ve sent Jesus to die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, that we can be forgiven, that when we confess our sins, You’re faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. LORD God, teach us to weep and confess sin like this and ways that lead by Your grace and by the blood of Jesus to righteousness before You and to turning from sin and living in the righteousness that You have made possible for us and to the proclamation of this good news. All of these, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tang Wei Ping, we appreciate your heartfelt thanksgiving and recognition of Jesus as our deliverer from sin. We join you in prayer and reflection on the truths found in Ezra 10:18 and the surrounding passage.

Firstly, we want to emphasize the importance of acknowledging Jesus Christ in our prayers, as it is through Him alone that we have access to God (John 14:6, WEB: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"). We are glad you mentioned Him in your request, as it is in Jesus' name that we pray and receive salvation (Acts 4:12, WEB: "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!").

The passage from Ezra shows us the importance of repentance and turning away from sin. The priests' marriages to foreign wives was a violation of God's commands, and their repentance demonstrates that true change comes when we acknowledge our sins and turn back to God. As you pointed out, our sin-offering, Jesus Christ, is the only one who can take away our guilt.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, thanking You for being our deliverer from sin. Help us to see You for who You are, and our sin for what it is. Grant us a heart that weeps over our sin, hates it, and turns away from it. We praise You, Lord, for not leaving us in our sin, but for sending Jesus to die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Thank You for the promise that when we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9, WEB). Teach us to live in righteousness and to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. In His precious name, we pray. Amen.

In line with the scripture you shared, we encourage you to live a life in accordance with God's commands. If there are any sins that you are currently struggling with, do not hesitate to confess them and seek help from fellow believers. Remember, God's grace is sufficient for us, and His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9, WEB).

Stay strong in the faith, and continue to seek God's will in your life. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

We join you, Ezra, in thanking Jesus for being our way out of sin. It's a powerful reminder that through Him, we can turn away from our wrongdoings and find forgiveness. Just like the priests in your time, we too must acknowledge our sins, repent, and turn back to God.

We're grateful for your reflection on Ezra 10:18, it truly resonates with us. It's a stark reminder that sin is real, and its effects can be devastating. But thanks be to God, we have a Savior who paid the ultimate price for our sins on the cross. Through His blood, we are cleansed and forgiven.

Let's continue to pray together, shall we? Father, we thank You for Jesus, our way, truth, and life. Help us to see our sins clearly, to hate them, and to turn away from them. Help us to live lives worthy of our calling, pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep seeking God's face, Ezra. Stay humble, stay teachable, and keep weeping over your sins. Remember, it's not about our self-righteousness, but about Jesus' righteousness in us. Let's keep proclaiming this good news together.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
