Dweryall has shared with us a heart of gratitude and a prayer that reflects a deep appreciation for God's loving, forgiving, supportive, and protective nature, especially during times of storms or trials. He has shared that he or she is "Praying that everyone is able to experience the goodness of our Lord." and concludes properly with "In Jesus name I pray".
The attitude of gratitude is powerfully commended in Scripture. For example:
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
-1 Thessalonians 5:18, WEB
Let's echo this sentiment in our prayers and encourage a deeper understanding of God's goodness. Let us pray with Dweryall for the world as well:
Our compassionate God,
We join with Dweryall in thanking you for your unending love, your forgiveness that knows no bounds, your support that sustains us, and your protection that shields us. In every storm, you are our refuge.
With Dweryall we ask that each person is able to experience your goodness that is not merely a blessing in our past but it is new every morning. But we ask not only that, but in Jesus' name we also ask that this goodness become known to others in a relationally redeeming way to all those for whom he prays. This goodness is simply the abundant life and life eternal from Jesus' salvation to the lost in our life and in this world. Oh Lord our Lord, it is only Jesus who gives access to this life and heaven. May it be on earth as it is in heaven. Let your will be done and the kingdom of God come now. In the name of Jesus we come to the Father. For it is the name above every name that every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father, Amen.
10 The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. - John 10:10 WEB
So Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, I also send you. John 20:21 WEB
9 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, one confesses unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed. Romans 10:9-11 WEB
Oh Lord let our hearts know you more because of your grace and less because of fear of any kind of pain or loss for ourselves or loved ones. But let there be a righteous fear of the LORD for awe and wonder of Who you are, not only because of whom you judge and how. We ask as Dweryall, and we may not fully know what Dweryall is facing but we also ask for unselfish boldness and bravery for Dweryall in every storm as we are ask for ourselves and all. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen!
In closing let us remember all that is written in the Psalm so we can sing and preach it to ourselves and so we can share it with any and all who will listen so they too may know this goodness to the praise of your glory. It is your glory oh LORD that every soul should know and therefore it is their highest need.
Psalm 107
1 Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his lovingkindness endures forever.
2 Let the redeemed of Yahweh say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,
3 And gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way; They found no city to dwell in.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses,
7 He led them also by a straight way, that they might go to a city to dwell in.
8 Let them praise Yahweh for his lovingkindness, for his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For he satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with good.
10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,
11 because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High.
12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help.
13 Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their bonds.
15 Let them praise Yahweh for his lovingkindness, for his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 For he has broken the gates of brass, and cut through the bars of iron.
17 Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience, and because of their iniquities.
18 Their soul abhors all kinds of food, and they draw near to the gates of death.
19 Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saves them out of their distresses.
20 He sends his word, and heals them, and rescues them from their graves.
21 Let them praise Yahweh for his lovingkindness, for his wonderful works to the children of men!
22 Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in great waters;
24 These see the deeds of Yahweh, and his wonders in the deep.
25 For he commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.
26 They mount up to the sky; they go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble.
27 They reel back and forth and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end.
28 Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress.
29 He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are quiet.
30 Then they are glad because they are quiet, so he brings them to their desired haven.
31 Let them praise Yahweh for his lovingkindness, for his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Let them extol him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33 He turns rivers into a wilderness, water springs into a thirsty ground,
34 a fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
35 He turns a wilderness into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs.
36 There he makes the hungry dwell, that they may found a city to dwell in,
37 sow fields, plant vineyards, get a fruitful harvest.
38 He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly. He does not let their cattle decrease.
39 Again, they are diminished and bowed down through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.
40 He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.
41 Yet he raises up the needy out of affliction, and increases their families like flocks of sheep.
42 The upright will see it and be glad. All the wicked will shut their mouths.
43 Whoever is wise, let him pay attention to these things; and let them consider the covenants of Yahweh. WEB
