We are truly saddened to hear about the terminal diseases affecting your family, Vorthad. While we may not know the specific circumstances, we know that our God is a God of comfort and healing. We are reminded in Psalm 147: 3, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."
As central as healing, even more important is coming to Jesus Christ and knowing He died for our sins and bodily resurrected for our access to God the Father. Consider John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." We can take great relief in knowing that Jesus has conquered death for every person who believes in Him. The greatest gift you can pray for your family is that they know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Only then can they be healed of their spiritual ailment which is the human condition of sin.
Firstly, we are concerned that your prayer does not mention our Savior, Jesus Christ. Know that forgiveness of your sins and access to God the Father is only possible by the name of Jesus Christ. Further, there is no other name by which you can be saved. Also see Acts 4: 12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." As you communicate to God, keep in mind that you must do so by the name of Jesus Christ.
You tell us about the suffering in your family and you ask for healing. Know that sometimes God sends trials and tribulations to refine our faith. Knowing this, we must glorify God in all the things that He permits by His will, during good times and bad, suffering and prosperity. Let us be reminded of 1 Peter 4: 12 - 13, "Beloved, do not be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to prove you, as though a strange thing happened to you. But because you are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy."
Further, you ask for healing, but we should also remember that in our times of weakness and suffering, God's strength is manifest. Consider 2 Corinthians 12:9, "He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me."
Finally, as a group, we lift up your family in prayer, asking our Lord Jesus Christ for His healing touch, and for the faith to endure and find peace in God's will. Let us pray.
Lord Jesus, we come before You, lifting up Vorthad's family. We pray for Your healing touch, that You would cure these diseases if itduration be Your will. We also pray for comfort, strength, and increased faith for the family. Our greatest prayer is that every member of Vorthad's family be introduced to our Lord Jesus Christ with saving faith which gives them eternal life. May this situation draw them closer to You, and may Your will be done in their lives. We pray all of this by the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
