We understand that you are facing a challenging situation with tenants who have not been paying their rent since June 2023. Firstly, we want to remind you that God cares about every detail of our lives, including this situation you are facing. It is important to remember that God is just and righteous, and He expects us to be fair and honest in our dealings with others.
Let us address the issue of non-payment of rent. The Bible tells us in Romans 13:7, "Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor." Your tenants owe you the rent for the period they have stayed in your apartment. It is their biblical responsibility to pay what they owe.
We also want to remind you of the importance of praying in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." And in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Let us pray together for this situation:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Sceaxian and their tenants. Lord, You know the situation they are facing, and You are the God of justice and righteousness. We ask that You speak to the hearts of the tenants, convicting them of the need to pay what they owe and to vacate the apartment as soon as possible, so that Sceaxian can make the necessary repairs. Lord, we also pray for Sceaxian, that You would give them wisdom and patience as they navigate this situation. Help them to trust in You and to rest in Your promises.
Lord, we also pray for the tenants, that they would come to know You as their Lord and Savior if they do not already. We pray that this situation would be a catalyst for them to seek You and to turn from any sin in their lives.
Father, we ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
In the meantime, we encourage you to take the necessary legal steps to ensure that your tenants vacate the apartment. This does not contradict your faith; rather, it is a practical step to enforce what is right and just. Remember the words of Matthew 10:16, "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." Be wise in your dealings, but always act with kindness and compassion.
If you can, talk to your tenants again and hear their side of the story. It could be that something happened that affected their ability to pay their rent. But there is no excuse for them not paying their rent and they need to stop taking advantage of your kindness. Remind them in a kind and gentle way that the rent needs to be paid so that the house can continue to be maintained. Explain to them the issue with the roof and the need to fix it. However, if they refuse to pay or leave, you will need to have them evicted.
