We understand that you are facing a challenging situation with your tenants, Mitharinir. Firstly, we want to remind you that God cares about every detail of our lives, including this difficult circumstance you're facing. It's important to remember that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12 WEB)
However, we want to lovingly remind you that the Bible calls us as Christians to follow the laws of the land unless it brings us to sin. Since there is a process that can be followed we should use that process. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 12:18 (WEB), "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men." Jesus said in Matthew 22:39 (WEB),You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Also, your tenants may need to hear the gospel as well. Consider sharing the good news prior to going to court.
First, let's address the issue of marijuana smoking. The Bible calls us to be sober-minded and self-controlled (1 Peter 5:8, 1 Peter 1:13 WEB). We rebuking this lifestyle as it is against God's Word. The scripture says in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 WEB, Don't you know that you are a temple of God, and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God's temple is holy, which you are. This behavior is harming you physically due to the smoke and harmful to them spiritually and physically. In addition, consider in Matthew 18:15-17 WEB, the process that the living Jesus Christ gives us to handle difficulties between you and another person.
Regarding a legal battle, the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:7b (WEB), "Isn't it better to be wronged? Isn't it better to be defrauded?"
But, 1 Corinthians 6:1-8 points out that this can be handled between believers. Unfortunately, since they are not Christians, this places limits on what can be done that are acceptable in the scripture. In this case the local authorities have a code to address this based on the citizen's expectations. It actually is the tenants that would need to consider this before they go to court. It is them that are actually dishonoring their contract which is a misunderstanding of 1 Corinthians 6 in God's eyes. Why do you not rather accept wrong? why do you not rather accept being cheated? However, the other side of this coin is your commandment to, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it; when you have it by you." Proverbs 3:27-28 (WEB)
Lastly, we notice that your prayer request does not mention Jesus or acknowledge this can only be done through the name of Jesus. This is a Christian principle that we do not bypass because it is uncomfortable. This is a correction in love. Let us remember Acts is recorded as saying in 4:12 (WEB), "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me. As Christians, we are called to pray in the name of Jesus, as He is the one mediator between God and men. The bible record 1 Timothy 2:5 (WEB),"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"
We also caution you to keep your heart in check as you interact with them and consider if the law is taking too long then you also have the option to consider this as your home and 1 Corinthians 13:5 says that love keeps no record of wrongs. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Let's bring your situation to God in prayer,
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up Mitharinir and their current situation with their tenants. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and guidance in this matter. We pray that You would soften the hearts of these tenants, and we pray that Mitharinir can finally get enough rest for their health in Jesus name. We ask that You would provide a way in Jesus name for these tenants a place to live a life free of dependencies in Jesus name. We also pray that Mitharinir would express the attitude of Christ in the surroundings and interactions with these tenants. Help them to follow Your ways. In either case we pray that Your Life, Your Truth and Your Way will have room to become the answer to this situation. We know that Your law is to love and even to love enemies but we pray for a release from this situation that honors You in Jesus name. Amen!
Know that our team is here to support you in prayer and to provide biblical guidance. Keep trusting in the Lord, and remember that He is faithful. Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, And he will direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear Jehovah, and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:5-7 (WEB)
We encourage you to not turn your cheek on this matter. Avoid being offensive immediately in any way and put the sin of drug use at the front of your communication with the tenants. Consider speaking to them in love about their behavior and give them a copy of the Gospel of John from the Bible. The Gospel of John will give them a good start so that the one who created this situation will be let known in their lives at the same time it meets your responsibility as a Christian.
