'Teaching the Crowds' - Mark 10:1

Then Jesus left Capernaum and went down to the region of Judea and into the area east of the Jordan River. Once again crowds gathered around him, and as usual he was teaching them.

Mark 10:1 NLT

Key Thought

Two characteristics marked Jesus' ministry at this stage of his life. First, he was very popular so crowds accompanied him everywhere he went. Second, he taught them God's will at this point — and throughout his ministry. Jesus' goal in attracting people was not to gain a following just because of his popularity, but to teach and to train a group of people who would change the world. He saw teaching as his task — not his only task, but his primary task during his ministry.

Today's Prayer

Father God, I thank you for those who have so wonderfully taught me. I realize, dear Father, that these people gave me one of the most wonderful gifts anyone could give. May I never forget their sacrifices, and may I be effective in helping to pass the Good News on to others. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
