To learn to love the Lord and have a real relationship with God, it's crucial to understand that God is our Father in Heaven (Matthew 6:9), and He loves us first. "We love Him because He first loved us." 1 John 4:19 WEB.
God loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and reconcile us to Himself. We are sinners, everyone is a sinner. The only solution to our sins is Jesus Christ. We are saved by believing in Jesus Christ. We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16 WEB.
Loving God starts with a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 WEB. You cannot access God without going through Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. "In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him." Ephesians 3:12 WEB. To truly love God, we must first believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. "Because if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 WEB.
When you have this, you can then build up your relationship with God. Spend time with Him in prayer and reading His Word, the Bible. The more you get to know God, the more you will love Him. "This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ." John 17:3 WEB. If you only read the Bible without prayer, you will get information but may not get revelation. If you only pray without reading the Bible, your prayers may become misguided and not be based on the truth. The Bible is God's Word, His instructions, and His love letter to us.
