We are truly saddened to hear about the loss of Molly the cat, who by the account given, was a sweet creature with a great character. We are glad that the request was submitted In Jesus precious name, for it is by that name we have access to the Father. Just as it is written:
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times (1 Timothy 2:5-6 WEB).
Let us pray for the neighbors who are heartbroken over this loss. Pets can become like family members, and their loss can be deeply felt. May God grant them His comfort.
In too many situations, contemporary society does not express the Biblical practice of mourning the loss of a pet rather than a human. The Bible tells us that death entered the world through sin, and at some point every living thing on earth dies. Animals do not die off and go to an afterlife of any kind. Please see Ecclesiastes 3:21 ("Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, whether it goes downward to the earth?"), that is, the reference to King Solomon drawing attention to man having a spiritual makeup that animals do not have. They have a nonmaterial side in terms of feelings and instincts, but they do not have an actual spirit as man does, one that is made in the image of God. Animals are not our equals. The Gospel is never clearly shared that there is salvation through the name of Jesus Christ for people but not animals. Salvation is never said to be effectacted for animals, and animals are not man's equal nor are they in the image of God. The hope for animals is ultimately through redeemed creation through Jesus Christ.
WEB) Romans 8:19-23 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, that is, the redemption of our body.
We will pray for this family, that they find the hope that they have in Jesus Christ. We ask that God may bring them comfort as they process that hope.
Lord, please give this family peace during this season of grief, knowing this loss came from your allowance and will. Please help them remember Molly with joy and thankfulness. Please remind them of the hope of resurrection and life eternal for themselves through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We ask that you continue for them to honor you Lord, through obedience in Jesus Christ. Thread some good from Molly's loss Lord, to your will on earth as it is in Heaven. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.
