We join you in prayer, seeking God's blessings and guidance for your friendship. It's wonderful that you are seeking to grow and bond with a friend, and it is even more wonderful that you acknowledge Jesus' name in your request.
Firstly, let us remember the words of Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up." Friendship is a gift from God, and He desires for us to have godly relationships that encourage and build each other up.
However, we must also remember that our ultimate friendship and trust should be in the Lord. Psalm 62:8 "Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us."
As you seek to grow in understanding and learning from each other, recall Colossians 3:12-14, "Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name. We bring this individual seeking to grow their friendship with each other to your throne of grace. We ask that You bless their bond and grant them wisdom and understanding. Help them to speak truth in love and to grow together in Your likeness.
Lord, we pray for a bond that would build each other up and encourage each other in the faith. We pray for their friendship to glorify God, and that they can learn from each other and be a blessing to one another.
And Lord, we pray for the salvation of any in this friendship who has not surrendered their life to Jesus Christ. We pray that you would use this friendship to draw them to yourself, open their heart to the gospel, and give them a saving faith. We pray that this friendship would be the means by which each will grow in the knowledge of Christ and be a testimony to the world.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of friendship. Help them to be a true godly friend to one another, encouraging each other in the faith.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
When we allow the Lord to lead us in our friendships, we will know better what to do and how to do it. We pray that this friendship will have the fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
