Because so many people here seem to have been misinformed, and therefore, misunderstand the book of Galatians, God has given me to share with clarification. And indeed it is not of my own conceits nor intellect, but rather through the rendering of the Holy Spirit's prompting by whom I impart.
Jesus did not do away with the commandments, but rather having summed them up in LOVE, He fulfilled them. So then, it was not the commandments themselves that were made obsolete, but rather the law. That is, the requirement under the law for repeat sacrifice and most importantly, the death penalty for breaking the law of the commandments.
The Fulfillment of the Law
17) “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
18) For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
19) Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20) For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. [Matthew 5:17-18]
Paul himself, admitted that some of his teachings were of his own mind, and not the requirement of Christ.
Jesus's two greatest commandments not only encompasses the ten commandments, they require even more commitment toward God, and much more compassion toward man:
Not only are you to have no other Gods, but
1) You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
Not only are you to love your neighbor as yourself.
2) But I say to you, Love your enemies.
Summed Up: Jesus paid the price, He satisfied the cost. We must must all face judgment, but it's kinda like, because Jesus serves as bond, we can live freely until our court date, when we must then give account. Jesus did not pay it all to free us to sin: He paid it all to free us from sin, that we might choose to live sin free in the abundance of life everlasting. Grace, the gift of "repentance for the remission of sin" frees us from the death sentence (The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ' Romans 6:23).
