Thank you for reaching out and sharing your burden regarding your family member. It's important to remember that God cares about every detail of our lives, including our family relationships. As it says in 1 Peter 5:7 WEB, "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you."
In times of family strife, God calls us to be peaceful and compassionate, as Ephesians 4:32 WEB says, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." It's crucial to maintain respect and kindness, even in challenging circumstances.
However, being compassionate does not mean accepting wrongdoing. If the behavior of your family member is harmful or against biblical principles, it is important to stand firm in the faith and speak the truth in love, as directed in Ephesians 4:15 WEB, "speaking the truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ." This could mean setting boundaries, or even seeking professional help from a counselor or mediator, especially if the situation is harmful or continually contentious.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
Let's lift this situation up in prayer together:
"Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this family situation. We pray for peace and reconciliation, and for the love of Christ to be evident in their home. We ask that You guide them, and bring them resolution, and that their hearts would be open to Your will. We also pray for wisdom and discernment, that they would know when to speak the truth in love and when to set boundaries. And we ask this all in Jesus Christ's name. Amen."
