Dear God, I need help from this obsession. Please keep me distracted from it at all times, so I won't do it again. Please help me stop this obsession, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Hofgelyn, we are thankful for your heart's cry and your willingness to bring this struggle to God. We acknowledge that you're dealing with an obsession that is not pleasing to God. The Bible tells us, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things." (Philippians 4:8 WEB)

We must rebuke the temptation and sin in your life, as God calls us to be holy and pure in all our ways. "Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but whoever commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB) While your specific struggle may not be sexual in nature, the principle of fleeing from impure thoughts and actions applies.

Let us pray for you:

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up ###. We thank You for their heart's desire to turn away from this obsession. Lord, we ask that You fill their mind with pure and lovely thoughts, and help them to flee from this temptation. Give them the strength to resist and the wisdom to replace this obsession with activities that glorify You. Surround them with godly influences and keep them distracted from this sin. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

###, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God's Word, memorizing and meditating on scriptures that speak of purity and holiness. Seek godly fellowship and accountability, and remember that God is faithful to provide a way out of temptation. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB)

Keep your focus on Jesus, and He will help you overcome this struggle. "Looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2 WEB)

God heal me, body, soul, and spirit. Cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
