Thanks to prompt police work, four suspects were found, one of whom is 22-year-old ###, a Libyan citizen. The case caused a huge public outcry: violent murders of Singaporeans by migrants are rare. What’s even more shocking is that the murder took place in the middle of a busy street, in one of the cafés.
Why did the group of migrants attack the Singaporeans who were calmly spending time in the café? The investigation, along with the confession of the suspect, revealed shocking conclusions, shared with us by a representative of the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
What do you know about the murder in the ### area?
A group of four migrants, aged 19 to 24, was detained in connection with the incident. The main suspect is 22-year-old ###, who carried out the murder.
If convicted, could he face the death penalty?
Yes, unfortunately, even Singapore’s laws don’t deter some visitors to our country. We are a very hospitable people, but we do not tolerate blatant lawbreakers.
Has the investigation uncovered how exactly the murder happened?
Yes. The Singaporeans, aged 24 and 25, were sitting at a table in the café, discussing the Neuro Pax AI platform, which the 25-year-old man had recently registered on. He was excitedly telling his friend that he had managed to earn $2,700 in just a few days by investing only $250. His friend didn’t believe it was possible, so the 25-year-old opened the platform on his phone and showed him the balance.
But how is this connected to the crime?
At that moment, a group of migrants was passing by. One of them accidentally saw the phone screen with the visible balance. They decided to sit at a nearby table and eavesdrop on the two friends’ conversation. Only one member of the migrant group understood English, so he translated everything.
And how did events develop after that?
The migrants learned that on the Neuro Pax AI platform, anyone could earn money using artificial intelligence. Supposedly, you invest on the platform, and the AI makes money for you. They also heard that the platform was available only to Singaporean residents as part of a national investment literacy program.
Did they decide to kill the man because of this platform, to make money themselves?
Not exactly. They came up with the idea to steal the phone to withdraw the money. But the migrants didn’t know that on Neuro Pax AI, each account is personal, and only the account owner can withdraw the profits to their own account. Three of the migrants approached the Singaporeans’ table and started distracting them, while ### attempted to secretly steal the phone.
And he didn’t succeed?
Correct, the 25-year-old noticed that ### had taken his phone from the table and began shouting. Suddenly, a fight broke out, and the suspect started brutally beating the Singaporean. Even after the Singaporean lost consciousness, the suspect continued to kick him in the head. Meanwhile, the others beat the second Singaporean. Fortunately, he survived, but the 25-year-old later died.
The story of the brutal fight and murder took an unexpected turn. It turns out the migrants wanted access to the Neuro Pax AI platform, which is only available to Singaporean residents, to make money.
But what is this platform? We decided to learn more about it.
Neuro Pax AI was created in 2003 under the management of the Monetary Authority of Singapore to implement a national program aimed at increasing the investment literacy of the population.
The goal of this program was to create a unified online platform with an easy and accessible interface, where every Singaporean resident could earn income from private companies providing cryptocurrency services. The Neuro Pax AI platform holds an official license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, as confirmed by an electronic certificate.
