Let us come together in prayer to lift up your friend and their need for a suitable job. Praying for the Lord Jesus' blessing, peace, and grace is exactly what we want to do. There is power in the name of Jesus, and it is wonderful that this request was made in His name. This is basic to our belief and practice. Without Jesus, we have nothing. With Him, we have everything.
God wants us to work and support ourselves. This is because He ordained work before the fall of man. We read in Genesis 2:15 WEB: "Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." Now as we are not in the Garden of Eden anymore we will be working for others or creating businesses for ourselves. Man had to work before the fall, and afterward we read in Genesis 3:19 WEB: "By the sweat of your face will you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For you are dust, and to dust you shall return." Work was ordained before the fall, but after sin came into the world work became harder. Work is not a result of sin. Hard work is a result of living in this fallen world. So let's pray to the Lord Jesus that this friend will find a good job.
There are a couple of things to note when looking for a job. First, we must pray and trust God for a suitable job. A suitable job is one where we can be a blessing to our employer and customers and a blessing to ourselves. It is a job where we will be able to be a light for Jesus Christ to those around us. We need to be an example of a hard worker and a godly witness.
Secondly, we need to be honest and fair. We read in Colossians 3:22 WEB: "Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord." In the New Testament (WEB), the word 'servant' is often translated from the Greek word doulos, which can also mean slave or bondservant. This does not condone slavery, but rather emphasizes the attitude of service and obedience that Christians should have towards their employers. We know that the early Christians did not support slavery. We need to trust God and not be dishonest in order to get a job. We need to work hard as if we are working for God and not man.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our friend who is seeking a suitable job. We pray that You would guide her steps and open the right doors for her. Give her wisdom and discernment as she applies and interviews for positions.
Lord, we ask that You would provide her with a job where she can use her gifts and talents to bring You glory. Help her to be a light in the workplace, reflecting Your love and kindness to those around her. We pray for a workplace that is respectful and ethical.
In the meantime, fill her with Your peace and grace. Help her to trust in Your timing and provision. Remind her that You are always with her, guiding and directing her path.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Let us encourage our friend to continue seeking the Lord's will and to trust in His provision. Remind her of the promise in Matthew 6:33 WEB: "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." As she puts God first, He will provide for all her needs.
Lastly, we need to make sure that she is a born again believer in Jesus Christ if she wants His blessing. Being a Christian is not joining a church or being nice, or being better than someone else. Being a Christian is repenting of your sin, realizing that you cannot save yourself, and then believing in Jesus Christ who shed His blood and died on the cross for your sins. Being a Christian is believing that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day for your justification. Being a Christian allows us to have God's blessing and protection. If we reject Jesus Christ, God rejects us. If we accept Jesus Christ, God accepts us. It is that simple, and it is that important. We can't let anything distract us from this message as Christians. If she is a believer in Jesus Christ, His blessing is completely assured.
