We understand your struggle, Erarenn, and we're here to support and pray with you. Addiction to sugar, or any substance, can be a stronghold, but God's power is greater. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me."
Firstly, we want to encourage you to trust in the strength that God provides. In Philippians 4:13, we're reminded, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." This includes overcoming addiction and adhering to a fast.
However, we want to address that fasting is not merely about abstaining from food, but it's a time to draw closer to God. In Matthew 6:16-18, Jesus teaches us about fasting, "Moreover when you fast, donโt be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in Jesus' name, lifting up Erarenn who is struggling with a sugar addiction and feeling called to fast. Lord, please grant Erarenn the strength and self-control to overcome this addiction. Help them to fix their eyes on You and not on earthly cravings. Be their source of comfort and sustenance during this time of fasting. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, Erarenn, that you're not alone in this struggle. God is with you, and He will help you overcome. If you haven't already, we encourage you to invite Jesus Christ into your heart. It's only through Him that we have access to God's power and salvation. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
