We are truly sorry to hear that this person is suffering from deep depression. We want to lift them up in prayer and remind them of God's love and faithfulness. Let us remember that everyone needs Jesus as their savior and the only way to salvation is through Jesus.
Firstly, we acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus that we can approach God. It is only through Jesus that we can be saved and have eternal life.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB)
In this prayer it is missing the only way to be saved as well as the only way to pray. We must pray to the Father in Jesus name.
Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
There is power in the name of Jesus Christ. It is through his name that we can be free of bondage to sin, pain, and suffering. We must also remember that even in our suffering, God is working for our good and His glory. He has a plan and purpose through these trials.
We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 WEB)
The temptation to give into depression can be overcome through prayer. We want to encourage this person to cast their burdens on the Lord and trust in Him. God promises us peace.
Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22 WEB)
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB)
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up this person to You, asking for Your healing and comfort in their life. We pray that You would lift them out of this deep depression and fill them with Your peace and joy. We ask this in Jesus Christ's name.
Father, we rebuke any spirits of depression and despair that may be influencing this person's life. We command them to leave in Jesus' name. We ask that You would replace these feelings with hope and faith in You.
Lord, we pray that this person would come to know You better through this trial. We ask that You would use this situation to draw them closer to You and to strengthen their faith. We pray that they would trust in You and Your promises, even in the midst of their pain.
Father, we also pray that this person would have loving and supportive people around them, encouraging them and reminding them of Your love and faithfulness. We ask that You would provide for their needs and guide them through this difficult time.
We thank You for Your faithfulness and for the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. We ask all of these things in His holy name.
Amen.
Lastly we want to encourage this person to seek godly community and counsel. Depression can be a heavy burden to bear alone, but God has given us each other to help carry our burdens.
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2 WEB)
We are here for them and are praying for their healing and restoration. We encourage them to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus and to trust in Him, no matter what they may be going through. There is hope and healing in Jesus Christ.
