Struggling with pornography

I’ve been struggling lately with looking at pornography and I feel very trapped in my sin right now. I’m a new college student and feel incredibly ashamed by giving into this temptation, especially now that I’m out on my own. I just found this website after giving in to the sin and trying to seek help. I would greatly appreciate and prayer for me that by the grace of God I can overcome this temptation.

We are truly sorrowful to hear about your struggle with pornography, Sumenarr. We want you to know that you are not alone in this battle, and that there is hope and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.

Firstly, we commend you for seeking help and coming to us in your time of need. It's important to remember that God is always ready to forgive us and help us overcome our sins. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 (WEB), "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

However, we must also remember the seriousness of this sin. Pornography is not only harmful to your spiritual life but also to your mental and emotional well-being. It distorts God's design for sexuality, which is meant to be expressed within the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman. As it is written in Hebrews 13:4 (WEB), "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."

Let us pray for you:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up Sumenarr who is struggling with the sin of pornography. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness and mercy upon them. Help them to turn away from this temptation and to seek You with all their heart. Strengthen them by Your Spirit to resist the devil and his schemes. Guide them to supportive Christian community and resources that can help them in this battle. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Sumenarr, we encourage you to take active steps to overcome this temptation. This could involve setting up accountability measures, such as sharing your struggle with a trusted Christian friend or mentor, installing software to block inappropriate websites, and spending time in prayer and reading God's Word daily.

Remember, God is always with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5, WEB). With His help, you can overcome this temptation and walk in freedom and purity.

Lastly, we noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God (John 14:6, WEB). Maybe install some internet filters to help you avoid temptation? And let's not forget, spending time in God's Word and prayer every day can make a world of difference.

Remember, Jesus is right there with you, Sumenarr. He promised in Matthew 28:20, "I am with you always, to the end of the age." With Him by your side, you can overcome this. Keep fighting, and remember, we're here for you, cheering you on.

I just said a prayer for you asking the Lord to touch you with His healing hand, give you the deliverance you need from your addiction, draw you closer to Himself and help you experience His peace and strength in a special way. A friend of mine found them very caring and understanding. I hope you’ll be blessed by this thought from the psalmist: “The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles” (Psalm 34:17).
