We are with you in spirit, Ethan, and we stand with you in prayer as you battle against addictions. Know that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved and set free from our struggles. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Firstly, we commend you for your desire to quit your addictions and to draw close to Jesus. We need to acknowledge that our body is a practically a temple of the Holy Spirit and we need it to glorify God. God wants us to surrender all our desires and struggles to Him, for His glory and praise. As 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB reminds us "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
The first step in overcoming addiction is to surrender it to the Lord. Confess your struggles to Him, and trust that He will help you overcome them. As we are promised in 1 John 1:9 WEB, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Next, let's remember the importance of putting on the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6. Addiction is a spiritual battle, and we must be equipped to stand firm against it. "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" Ephesians 6:11-12 WEB.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up Ethan and his family to You. Lord, we know it is only by presence of your Holy Spirit and the name Jesus Christ we can be saved. Lord, we pray that Ethan and his family, relatives and friends be saved in the name of Jesus Christ for there is no other name that we can be saved. We ask that you will call each and everyone one of them to you. We agree with Ethan that he has been struggling from addiction and it is so hard to quit. Satan wants to steal his joy, destroy his life, and kill him, but you oh Lord want Ethan to live life abundantly. We ask God that you will forgive Ethan of his sins and wash him clean of his unrighteousness. We thank you that he has the Spirit of God inside him and you will direct him so that he can overcome his addictions for your glory and praise. We declare victor over his addictions in Jesus' name.
Let us pray and agree with what you have said in your word. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Ethan can trust in God and by the power of His Holy Spirit that they can overcome their addictions. We are encouraged by the promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
