We understand that you're struggling with gambling and it's causing you to lose your peace. Firstly, we want to assure you that there is hope and a way out through Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
Gambling is a form of covetousness, a desire to gain material wealth at the expense of others by means of chance, which is condemned in scripture. For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can't carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:7-10 WEB.
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is struggling with gambling. We ask for Your forgiveness if they have indulged in this sin, and we pray for Your strength to overcome this temptation. Help them to turn away from this desire and to be content with the blessings You have provided.
We pray for Jesus Christ to be at the center of their life. Give them a passion to serve and honor You with their time, talents, and treasures. Help them to be a good steward of the resources You have entrusted to them. Guide them in using money responsibly to meet their needs and the needs of others, not for selfish gain or lustful desires.
We pray that they will have a repentant and submissive heart and be willing to say to God, "I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread." Job 23:12, WEB.
Help them to find their peace and contentment in You alone. We ask this in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
We encourage you to flee from this temptation and to find your joy and satisfaction in Christ alone. Seek out Christian friends who hold you accountable to your words and actions. Remember, God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB.
Stand firm in your faith. 1 Corinthians 16:13, WEB. Take courage, for the devil is already conquered by Jesus Christ, and He lives in you. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9, WEB.
