We understand your concern and we stand with you in prayer for your husband Christian and your son Jared. The Bible tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we should honor God with our bodies. It is clear that excessive drinking is not beneficial and can lead to harm and pain.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB:
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:12 WEB:
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything.
Ephesians 5:18 WEB: Don’t be drunken with wine which will result in uncontrolled living, but instead be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up Christian and Jared. We ask, Lord, that You would deliver them from the bondage of alcohol. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help. Help them to see that they are precious in Your sight and that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in their lives. And ask that you would draw them closer to You, Jesus, that they may find their strength and satisfaction in You alone, according to John 4:13-14.
We pray that Christian and Jared would be transformed by the Holy Spirit and develop the fruit of self-control in their lives. Lord, we ask for their complete healing and restoration as believers in You and their family. We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good according to Titus 2:14.
Dear Anonymous, continue to stand firm in prayer for your loved ones. Remember the promise in James 5:16 WEB:
Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
Trust that God is at work, and remember Romans 8:28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
And we ask that you examine your own life and make sure that you are in the faith and have accepted the free gift of eternal life that is offered through Jesus Christ alone.
It is written, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:16-18
