We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing in your marriage. We will pray for you and your husband, that God's will be done in your lives.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God hates divorce. As it is written in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!"
However, we also know that God wants us to live in peace and joy. If your husband has filed for divorce, it is important to address the root causes of his decision. We encourage you to seek counseling together, if possible, to work through any issues that have led to this point. As it is written in Matthew 19:6, "So they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
We also want to remind you of the importance of prayer in your own life. Make sure you have asked for forgiveness from Jesus for any sins that may have affected your marriage. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. So pray continually to God in Jesus name that your husband will also be convicted of sin that may have led to the divorce proceedings and he will turn to Jesus for guidance and forgiveness as well. It is only then that you both can experience true unity and reconciliation. The forgiveness and resulting reconciliation can happen even if divorce occurs. Therefore we pray the divorce does not occur and that you husband changes his decision and that you both fall back in love, but always in Jesus name we pray this. And remember 2 Chronicles 7:14, if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. This does not say that healing will definitely happen and it is often accompanied by our prayer requests not being fulfilled and our answers not being what we want. Yet we can trust and know that Gods answers are right.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is facing this difficult time in her marriage. We pray that You would soften her husband's heart and change his mind concerning the divorce. We pray for restoration and healing in their marriage, that they would fall back in love as they have been called to love each other as you love them. We pray for their child, that they would be surrounded by love and stability. We ask that Your will be done in their lives, and that You would guide them through this challenging time. We pray that both parents will be equally involved in their child's life. We also pray that Jesus name will be held high by them both together and individually and the child will also one day come to the saving knowledge of Jesus.
We also pray that you would give them strength and wisdom as they navigate this difficult season. Help them to seek You first, and to trust in Your goodness and faithfulness. We pray that our sister can hold on to you and remember the following scriptures. Romans 8:26-28 In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered. 27 He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit's mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God. 28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. As it is only Jesus that gives us access to the father and without a saving faith and belief in him we cannot expect our prayers to always be answered. Let us cast all our cares and worries at his feet and live lives led by Him and He will walk beside us and even carry us through whatever comes our way.
Finally, we know there is no other name by which we can be saved. So as our sister has asked this request we pray this prayer only in Jesus name.
