How selfish to seek to silence the message of repentance to those who have not tasted its' benefits. Is it all about "believers?" Indeed, once you have tasted the good news of the Gospel, but return to sin, you crucify Christ afresh (with the need for repeated repentance). There is no more repentance for you...
Therefore, we do not minister to the saints. For indeed, we progress in ministry, just as Jesus commanded of His disciples:
Then he opened their minds to understand these many Scriptures. And he said, " Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah must suffer and die and rise again from the dead on the third day. With my authority, take this message of repentance to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: 'There is forgiveness of sins for all who turn to me.' You are witnesses of all these things. " And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven." (Luke 24:45, MSG)
Woe to you who teach those who have not repented, only the ways of circumcision (ritual). This goes against Christ's teachings. He desires to extend mercy to sinners because of their repentance: not the outward appearance of meaningless sacrificial ritualism: i.e. all they have to do is display gray and black, and turn their backs on someone they don't know. Such doctrine blocks their entrance into eternal life. The HEART, by the renewing of the mind, must be circumcised (changed) through contrition (humble repentance).
The premise therefore is, if you are in Christ, you're supposed to already be whole, there should be no need to teach you to repent. Jesus invited in the sick: those who were willing to accept His invitation to sup with Him.
But when Jesus heard it, He replied, Those who are strong and well (healthy) have no need of a physician, but those who are weak and sick. Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy (that is, readiness to help those in trouble) and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin). (Matthew 9:12, AMP)
What was on the menu? REPENTANCE and FORGIVENESS.
For, were not all believers once, but "pack animals" loaded down with sin?
Question
They will say, "Where is this ’coming’ He promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." (2 Peter 3:4)
Answer
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:8-9)
