Morenollyn, we understand that you're seeking the Spirit's control over abuse and for the truth to be revealed. We stand with you in prayer and truth according to God's word.
Firstly, let's remember that God is a spirit, and those who worship Him must do by spirit and truth John 4:24. We need to be careful not to rely on a vague spirituality but have a CLEAR understanding of the Holy Spirit's role in our lives. The Holy Spirit is our guide leading us to the truth of God's word. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead and not some kind of ethereal force that can be controlled. We cannot control the Holy Spirit. He will testify of Jesus and lead us into truth John 14:17, John 15:26, John 16:13, Acts 1:8, Acts 5:32.
We must clearly understand that the Holy Spirit will guide us into truth and not control abuse. The Holy Spirit will lead us to rebuke and flee from all sin including abuse. We need to be clear on what the Bible says about abuse. The Bible explicitly states that we should have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them Ephesians 5:11. It tells us that we should not allow a little leaven to leaven the whole lump 1 Corinthians 5:6, 1 Corinthians 5:7. This means that we should not tolerate sin, including abuse, nor should we expect the Holy Spirit to control it. Instead, we should rebuke it, flee from it, and let the Holy Spirit guide us in truth. God will judge everyone who does not respond to the call to repentance including those who abuse others.
Let's pray together:
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### and asking for Your divine intervention. Lord, we ask that You give ### the courage and strength to flee from all abuse including verbal and physical abuse, sexual abuse, and any other kind of abuse. We ask that the Holy Spirit would be present to guide and protect ### and all those involved. And we know that the truth is the truth of Jesus Christ John 14:6. God, we ask that any lies and deception be exposed and that Your truth reigns in this situation. We pray for conviction, repentance, and salvation for the abuser. Lord, we know that You do not take pleasure in evil, and we ask that You put an end to any ongoing abuse. Lord, we know that You are the only one who can save and protect us. Lord, please come to the aid of ###. And we ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
###, remember that God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, and He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. Stay strong in the faith knowing that the only answer is Jesus Christ.
