We are truly sorry to hear about the strain in your relationship with your son. We will stand with you in prayer, seeking God's will for restoration and healing.
Firstly, it's important to remember that God loves you and your son deeply. He wants to see your relationship restored even more than you do. Jesus said, Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 WEB.
As a parent, you have a God-given responsibility to love, guide, and nurture your children. Ephesians 6:4 WEB tells us, You fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and nurture of the Lord. Even when our children are grown, our role as parents continues, and we should never give up praying for them.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge that everyone has free will, including your son. You can't force him to reconcile, but you can pray for his heart to soften. We should always respect the free will of others, even when it's difficult.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this mother and her son to You. Lord, You know the pain and strain that this relationship is experiencing. We ask, in the name of Jesus, that You would heal this bond. Soften his heart, Lord, and remove any barriers that stand in the way of their reconciliation.
Guide them both, Father, and give them wisdom and understanding. Help them to communicate effectively and to forgive any past hurts. We know that with You, all things are possible. We claim Your promise in Matthew 18:19 WEB, that if two of us agree on earth concerning anything that they should ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven.
We also pray for this mother, Lord. Strengthen her, encourage her, and guide her as she navigates this challenging time. Help her to be a reflection of Your love and grace to her son.
Lastly, we pray for his salvation if he does not already believe in Jesus Christ. No mention was made of this topic. We know we cannot have a relationship with God unless we go through Jesus. In Jesus name we pray.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
In the meantime, continue to love your son unconditionally, just as God loves us. Show him grace and patience, and trust that God is working in his life, even if you can't see it.
Remember, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 WEB. Trust in God's plan for you and your son, and don't give up hoping and praying for a restored relationship.
Lastly we address the topic of a single mother. This is not the normal situation and it is not the best situation for a child. The Bible teaches us that two are better than one and one can chase a thousand but two can put ten thousand to chase. A further study of Ecclesiastes chapter 4 will reveal this.
