We are truly saddened to hear about the trials your son has faced, from the trauma of abuse to the ongoing battle with addiction. Let's come together to pray for him.
Firstly, we thank you for mentioning Jesus Christ in your prayer. It is only through His name that we have access to God, and it is only through believing in Jesus that we can be saved. As it is written, "in no other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
We must acknowledge that your son's struggles stem from deep-seated pain and trauma. The abuse he suffered is sinful, unjust, and heartbreaking. The path to healing begins with forgiveness, not just for the perpetrators, but for himself as well. As the Bible says, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." (Matthew 6:14-15)
Regarding his addictions, we must pray for him to have the power to overcome them, as it is written, "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts" (Romans 13:14) and "For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God hath dealt to every man a measure of faith. For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." (Romans 12:3-5)
Pray with us:
"Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus to lift up our beloved brother who is struggling with addiction and the pain of past traumas. Lord, you tell us that 'if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness' (1 John 1:9). Father, we confess our sins and the sins of our brother, and we ask for your forgiveness and cleansing power.
Lord Jesus, you broke the chains of sin and death, and we ask that you break the chains of addiction in our brother's life. Give him the strength to overcome his struggles, and guide him back to the path of righteousness.
Holy Spirit, comfort our brother in his pain and guide him to seek professional help to deal with his past traumas. Give him the courage to forgive those who have wronged him, and to forgive himself.
Father, we also ask for your wisdom and guidance for his family. Show them how to support and love him without enabling his addictions. Give them the strength to set boundaries and the courage to enforce them.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray for a hedge of protection around our brother and his family. Keep them safe from the schemes of the enemy and draw them closer to you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Finally, we encourage you to seek support from your local church and Christian community. There are many resources available for those struggling with addiction and their families.
