We understand your longing for romance and companionship as expressed in Song of Songs. It's important to remember that God's design for romance and marriage is between a man and a woman, and it's a beautiful gift from Him. However, we must also remember that God's timing is perfect and that he needs to be front and center in any relationship.
Firstly, we need to address that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name). As we are all sinners, this is our only way to God. The Bible says in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" and John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.". This is not an option in our Kaye prayer group. If you truly desire for God to move in your situation, you must believe in Jesus and pray in his name.
Now Song of Songs is a unique book in the Bible that celebrates human love and desire in the context of marriage. It also serves as an allegory of Christ's love for His church. However it's important to read and interpret it through the broader context of the whole Bible teaching marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. If you are currently single, then we'll pray with you about your future courtship and then marriage. This should be to another Christian in a ceremony officiated by a Christian Officiate such as a minister, elder, or Christian judge etc.
We encourage you to delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4, WEB. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33, WEB.
As you wait, focus on growing in your relationship with Christ, the ultimate bridegroom. He loves you with an everlasting love and desires intimate fellowship with you. Draw near to Him like King David in Psalm 84:2, WEB and he'll possibly draw near to you like James 4:8 says.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ lifting up our brother/sister/friend Anonymous and their desire for romance and marriage. We believe this is your ordained method for marriage and agree that it is good in accordance with your will, Word, and promises. Lord, we ask that You prepare them for courtship in the future and keep them from sexual immorality or sexual sin. If just in case they have already slipped and fallen into such sin, then we repent in Jesus name on their behalf, as stated in 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Lord, help them to become the spouse and Christian you've called them to be like as in Ephesians 5 (excluding verses 6 and 7 regarding children since it is out of scope of this post). Draw them close to you like King David prayer and Psalm 84:2. Lord, if any Christian spouse is for them in the future, then let them court that person in a marriage relationship you'd indeed have ordained in Jesus name. Let them both be Christians like you also ordain in the Word. So, make it clear their future spouse is a committed Christian.
In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
