We understand that you're struggling with feelings of anger and resentment towards your father, and it's important to address these emotions with a biblical perspective. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB: "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
Firstly, we need to acknowledge that harboring anger and hatred can harm us spiritually and emotionally. The Bible warns us in Hebrews 12:15 WEB: "See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled." It's crucial to forgive, not for your father's sake, but for your own spiritual well-being.
Secondly, it's important to understand that your father's actions should not dictate your future. While it's unfortunate that he has advised you against marriage, you should seek God's will for your life. Marriage is a blessed institution ordained by God, as mentioned in Hebrews 13:4 WEB: "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with feelings of anger and resentment. Lord, we ask You to soften their heart and help them to forgive, just as You have forgiven us through Christ. Guide them on the path You have set for their life, and help them to make decisions that honor You. Break any generational curses or family patterns that do not align with Your will. Protect them from any form of manipulation or deceit, and help them to walk in love and obedience to Your word.
Father, we also pray for their father. We ask that You convict him of any wrongdoing and guide him towards righteousness. Help him to see the error of his ways and to seek Your will for his life.
Lastly Father, we are thankful for the memory of the mother and pray for her eternal state.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8 WEB
