We understand that you're feeling anxious about your friendship and the impact your anxiety has had on it. First, we want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7 WEB For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
It's important to remember that God loves you and wants you to live in freedom, not bound by anxiety. When you feel anxious, you can cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 WEB casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
Regarding your friendship, it's commendable that you care deeply for this person. True friendship is a blessing, and it's something that God values.
Proverbs 17:17 WEB A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.
However, it's important to remember that God should be at the center of all our relationships. He is the one relationship that we can have that will last forever. He is the one who will always be there for us. If you feel that your anxiety has caused you to not be a good friend, it is not a time to be anxious, it is a time to pray. Pray for forgiveness if necessary, and pray for strength to be the friend that you would like to be. Remember that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. It is only through Jesus that we can be forgiven.
John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up our friend who is feeling anxious about their friendship. We ask, Lord, that you would comfort their heart and lift their anxieties. Help them to cast all their worries on you, because you care for them.
We know that you want us to live in freedom. Freedom from anxiety and fear. Free from any power that can come between us and you.
Help them to be the friend that they would like to be, full of your love and compassion.
Help them to remember that you are always there and that you want what is best for them.
Help them to remember that it is only through your son Jesus Christ that we have access to you.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, God is faithful. He will help you through this. Trust in him, and he will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
