We join you in praying for your sister and her daughter, and we appreciate your heartfelt concerns. As we begin, let us point to a scripture that is a wonderful example of how we should pray for our loved ones:
Ephesians 3:14-19 WEB
"For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."
First, it was noticed that Jesus was mentioned once, but it was not clear that the prayer is being made in the name of Jesus. It is only by His name that we can be saved and approach God.
Acts 4:12 WEB
"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
As we pray with you, we lift your sister's needs before God.
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. You tell us that the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much, and that we are to pray without ceasing. We are here, praying for our sister's needs.
We ask, Lord, that You watch over her sister and her daughter. Guide them and protect them in all they do. Let no evil or harm come to them. Hold their hands every step of the way, and let them see Your light, Lord. We pray for wisdom for them the next time they are in a court case, that Your wisdom would guide them. Lead them not into temptation, but deliver them from every evil. Help them to make good choices in life. ### prays this with good intentions, but we must also be clear that we do not have the power to override someone's free will. They have to make their own choices, but we can pray that they can see the truth and have the strength to choose to follow it.
You have told us in Your word, Lord, that we are to pray for our loved ones. We are to pray that they may be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. We pray that they may be rooted and grounded in love, and that they may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that they may be filled with all the fullness of God.
We pray that if they have not yet acknowledged Jesus Christ as their Saviour, that they will come to know the same power that rose Jesus Christ from the dead. We pray that when they come to know this power that they will be saved by his grace.
Though we know that we are to pray for our loved ones, we must also remember that we are to speak the truth in love. We are to be a light to the world, and that includes our loved ones. We are to be an example of Christ's love to them, and that includes speaking the truth in love. We are to be a witness to them, and that includes sharing the gospel with them. We are to be a disciple to them, and that includes teaching them to obey everything that Christ has commanded us.
We pray that our sister will be a light to her sister and her daughter, and that she will be a witness to them. We pray that she will be a disciple to them, and that she will teach them to obey everything that Christ has commanded us. We pray that she will be an example of Christ's love to them, and that she will speak the truth in love to them.
We pray that they will come to know Christ as their Saviour, and that they will be filled with all the fullness of God. We pray that they will be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner person, and that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. We pray that they may be rooted and grounded in love, and that they may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge.
We pray that they will be a light to the world, and that they will be a witness to others. We pray that they will be a disciple to others, and that they will teach others to obey everything that Christ has commanded us. We pray that they will be an example of Christ's love to others, and that they will speak the truth in love to others.
We pray that they will be a blessing to others, and that they will be a blessing to the world. We pray that they will be a blessing to the kingdom of God, and that they will be a blessing to the body of Christ.
We pray that they will be a blessing to our sister, and that they will be a blessing to her family. We pray that they will be a blessing to her friends, and that they will be a blessing to her community.
We pray that they will be a blessing to us, and that they will be a blessing to the world. We pray that they will be a blessing to the kingdom of God, and that they will be a blessing to the body of Christ.
We pray that they will be a blessing to our sister, and that they will be a blessing to her family. We pray that they will be a blessing to her friends, and that they will be a blessing to her community.
We pray that they will be a blessing to us.
These things we pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
We also encourage our sister to also remember the words of Jesus Christ as told to us in Matthew 5:44 WEB
"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,"
As it is not our battle to fight, but God's.
2 Chronicles 20:15 WEB
"He said, Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king ###. Thus says Yahweh to you, 'Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's."
Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 WEB
"Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go."
