Dear Lord,
The docs want to do a renal scan on B. That will show how each kidney is functioning. It sounds like the one with the stone would be really hard to operate on. That doc said if the stone has damaged the kidney enough that it isn't working, they would consider removing the whole kidney rather than trying to laser out the stone. That seems pretty drastic to me, but I can see their reasoning. The stone takes up most of the collecting system, so it's the largest one I've ever heard of. I would hate for her to lose a kidney, though. She gets a lot of UTIs, so she'd be out of luck if the remaining kidney started getting infected all the time.
She said everyone is doing something different. One nurse will give her meds orally. Then the next nurse will come on + say the meds have to go down the NG tube. They go to the same place (the stomach), but it's probably better to give them down the tube bc they absorb faster when they're crushed. So it confuses B + makes her feel no confidence in the so-called care she is receiving.
She's also supposed to walk 4x a day, but they've only done it once so far today, + it's after 9 p.m. How is her bowel supposed to unkink if they don't help her keep moving? Helping her exercise is one of the orders they are supposed to be following. She's not supposed to get up by herself. I'm pretty disgusted + B is, too. I told her to complain to the head nurse + tell the docs their orders aren't being followed. Maybe if they're embarrassed enough, it will help. Unfortunately, _____ Hospital has always been bad. My dad had thyroid surgery there, + he came out of the OR with his oxygen turned off + the head of the stretcher flat (huge no-nos). Later on, when he was getting an IV removed, the nurse just pulled it out + didn't even apply pressure, so it bled all over the place. I squawked at them for their negligence, but the place has not improved in all these years.
Speaking of shoddy care, A's one remaining grandma fell again. She is 93. She went to one hospital, but the care there is terrible too, so now she's in a rehab facility. I don't think she broke anything, at least. .
I'm just praying you will straighten out the twisted loop in B's intestine. I hate to think of her having to go thru 2 or 3 major surgeries close together. The risk is too high, with all her problems.
Please bless her + give her peace. Allow her to sleep well.
In your holy name, amen.
