We are saddened to hear about the struggles your son is facing, and we are here to intercede and provide biblical counsel. First, we want to remind you that we have access to God only through the name of Jesus Christ. It is by His name that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. There is no other name by which the Holy Spirit is sent to convict us of sin.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the son of Numbton to Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask that Your Holy Spirit would convict him of his sins. He has been angry, misusing video games to escape, and treating his new wife poorly, who he is upsetting and breaking the vows that he made before you. We ask that this marriage stay pure and godly and that this wife receives an apology.
Father, we rebuke the enemy's influence in his life. By neglecting his job as a husband and to love his wife the man is leaving the door open and the devil will fill that void with sin. Just as with Adam and Eve the husband must not give the devil an opportunity to take advantage of the life God gave their wife. He forced his way into their family and is affecting this marriage. You have said in Your Word, "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" I Peter 5:8 WEB . Lord, we ask that you give him godly sorrow for his sin. Let him see that the sin is not only welling him away from You but destroying the unity between his wife and him. Show him he must not neglect the job He gave him when He joined them in matrimony.
We asked that You remake his heart and restore the joy of Your salvation to him. It is only when he is obedient to Your will and Word can he Effectively interact with His wife and show Christ like love to her. Give Him the True ability to love and give more to his spouse by first giving him Your words that are written in your bible:
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it ; That he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, That he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27 WEB
“Husband, love your wives, and don't be bitter against them.” Colossians 3:19 WEB
“You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7 WEB
Remind him to be vigilant and strong in the Lord, let him be prepared for spiritual warfare at all times. This unfortunate time in your marriage will be used for You glory as always. May your wife have a testimony of praise, provide him the strength to love her, and heal any wounds the enemy has inflicted on their home. May he stand against the schemes of the enemy and lead him to the path of righteousness for Your name's sake.
In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Numbton, continue to stand in the gap for your son and his wife. Trusting that this will pass and he will have a testimony of Gods faithfulness and grace. We are reminded of God's promises in 2 Chronicles 7:14 WEB:
"...If my people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
You can consider the video game, a gaming addiction, which (“are”) is just an escape to avoid dealing with reality and adversity, instead of trusting the Lord and kitchen relying on him to guide us through. It’s a tactic the enemy uses to stunt our spiritual growth and fill our hearts and time with worldly desires instead of time with Jesus.
I John 2:15-17 WEB: “Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him.; 16 for all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s. 17 The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever”
