Choose ye this day... said Joshua to the people, whom ye shall server, but as for me and my house, I will serve the Lord. Jos. 24.15 It is not so difficult to choose whom we shall serve and how to please God by obeying His word. Every single gift we have has come from the Lord Jesus to all of us who love Him and He wants to give us pleasures forever more while we are here on earth. In gratitude for all the blessings He has sent to us we should strive to please Him above all things.
When peoples lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.
Prov. 16.7
It is a natural tendency to please others and please ourselves by eating so much hamburgers and fried potatoes, while others love to stash money in the bank and never let anyone have it, seek out material possesions on earth make us more secure. At the end of our life we will realize that those things were not our eternal security. Everything will be left behind and some others will take over and enjoy our hard labor on earth.
Repenting from sin and evil and staying away from them pleases the Lord.
I do not want to please myself anymore. I want to please Jesus above all things. His ways are all true and we must read and obey every single word He said. I always remember this.
Our purpose on earth is to please God and make His heart full of joy. It is Him who examines our heart and will judge us at the end of our days.
