We appreciate your heartfelt request and your desire to seek God's will in this important decision. It's commendable that you have maintained purity in your relationship, as God commands us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother Finshyn. We thank You for the relationship he is in and for his desire to seek Your will. We pray that You would give him a clear answer, through Your Word, through prayer, and through the godly counsel of brothers and sisters in Christ. Grant him the discernment to know Your will, the wisdom to understand it, and the courage to be obedient to it.
We also pray for his girlfriend, that You would reveal Your will to her as well. We ask that You would bless their relationship and guide them as they consider marriage. Help them to honor You in all they do, and to keep their relationship pure and focused on Your glory.
We pray for healing from the effects of his parents' divorce, and that he would not let past hurts influence his decisions about marriage. Help him to forgive completely and to trust in Your ability to help him build a strong, godly marriage.
We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, the name by which we are saved, and the name which provides access to God. "For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12, WEB).
If Jesus Christ is not the center of your lives, please seek Him first and only then seek a mate after establishing firmly your relationship with Him.
We encourage you to continue to be in prayer, seeking God's will, please also include the Lord Jesus Christ in your prayer. Study the Word, and seek godly counsel as you make this important decision. Remember, "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1, WEB). Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB).
In addition, spend time in God's Word, learning about His design for marriage. Some recommended passages include Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6, Ephesians 5:22-33, and 1 Peter 3:1-7. Remember God created Man, and for him he made a woman, not a lover or girlfriend, but a wife, to be joined together in one flesh for the purposes of creating a family, not solely for emotional or financial fulfillment. Sex was specifically designed to create children not just for an emotional or physical fulfillment. This is as much specifically mentioned, "But if they do not have self-control, let them marry. For it’s better to marry than to burn" (1 Corinthians 7:9, WEB).
