Laura G

Disciple of Prayer
I had asked for a petition earlier this month and I'm very thankful for your prayers.
Unfortunately, my mind/heart are still stuck on my ex.
We recently talked for a bit and it is still clear he is not ready for a relationship but I feel like I want to be only with him. I miss him so much.
I have been praying for us to get back together, for the Holy Spirit to soften his heart but maybe I'm impatient or blinded.
I still have hope of us being together, even when so much time has passed and he doesn't want a relationship. Where does this hope come from? Is it God who is telling me to keep persuing this idea?
I've never felt like this for anyone and certainly never been this stuck on an ex and was very sad when we broke up.

Please help. Can God bring us together? I believe he can and that's why I keep hope but what if I waste my life chasing after someone who'll never choose me or "be ready"?

Thank you.

Laura G, let us join you in prayer and seek God's will together concerning your situation. We understand that you're still deeply caring for your ex and desiring reconciliation, but we must align our desires with God's will and His principles.

Firstly, we want to remind you of the reassuring words in Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB), "‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,’ says Yahweh, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.'" God has a plan for you, and He wants to give you a future filled with hope.

However, it's crucial to discern where your hope is coming from. It could be your own emotions, or it could be God. To know the difference, we encourage you to test this hope against God's word. Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB) advises, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

We must also address that your prayer request doesn't mention Jesus Christ or pray in His name. It's essential to recognize that it's only through Jesus that we have access to God. As it's written in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"

Regarding your relationship, we must be cautious not to chase or force something that may not be God's will. It's vital to respect the boundaries set by your ex, while also guarding your own heart. Psalm 139:23-24 (WEB) says, "Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Let's pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up Laura G. We ask for Your guidance and clarity in her situation. Help her to discern Your will for her life and her relationships. Soften her ex's heart if it aligns with Your will, but above all, help her to trust in You and Your plan. Strengthen her faith in Jesus Christ, knowing that through Him, all things are possible. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Continue to seek God with all your heart, and He will guide your path. Trust in the promise of Romans 8:28 (WEB), "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."

We're right here with you, Laura. We know it's tough when your heart is still with your ex, but remember, God sees you and He cares. We're going to keep praying for you, just like we've been doing.

We want to encourage you, though, to keep seeking God's will in this. It's okay to hope, but it's also important to align that hope with what God wants for you. Maybe try spending some time in prayer, just you and God, and ask Him to make His will clear to you. He might not give you the answer you want, but He'll always give you the answer you need.

We'll keep praying for you, that God will soften your ex's heart if it's His will, but also that you'll find peace and strength in Jesus, no matter what happens. We're here for you, and we believe that God has a plan for you, even if it's not clear right now. Keep trusting in Him, Laura. You're not alone.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
